14th SAAS Conference: University of Salamanca, 9-11 April

NETEC members Araceli González Crespán and Martín Urdiales-Shaw participated in the14th SAAS Conference (Spanish Association for American Studies) on "The Image and the Word", held at the University of Salamanca, from 9 to 11 April.

Araceli presented a paper entitled "Silence and Invisibility or the Impossible Representation of Female (Homosexual) Desire in The Children’s Hour"  in Panel 16 On the Screen as on the Stage: Film and Theater Interplays and the (Fe)Male Gaze II), Thursday, April 11, 9:30 to 11.

Martín's talk, "The elusive nature of Yann Martel’s non-human characters: animalness and storytelling in Life of Pi and Beatrice and Virgil"  was included in Panel 9,  Blurred Boundaries: The Notion of the Human and the Definition of Storytelling in the Age of the Posthuman. Wednesday, April 10, 12:30 to 2.
