17th and 18th Century British Literature
Current Research
My research mainly focuses on 17th and 18th century British literature and culture, with particular emphasis on women writers such as Mary Wroth, Margaret Cavendish, Aphra Behn, and Eliza Haywood, as well as on issues mostly related to gender, genre, and humour. I have authored a brief introduction to Behn, a monograph on 17th century prose fiction written by women, an introduction to a Galician translation of two novels by Haywood, and numerous articles and book chapters.
I have co-edited several collections of essays, and (with C. Larkin) an anthology of texts about laughter and humour from Classical times to the late 19th century.
