17th and 18th Century British Literature

My research attempts to provide an ecocritical approach to Irish Gothic fiction focusing on female authors of the 18th century and paying particular attention to Burke’s notion of the sublime and the natural environment. My MA Thesis on "Ecological Imperialism in Joseph Conrad's Nostromo and Lord Jim"  explored Conrad's  novels in the light of what researcher Alfred Crosby has designated as "ecological imperialism".  I am currently working on my PhD thesis, provisionally entitled "An Ecocritical Analysis of Eighteenth-Century Gothic Fiction Written by Irish Female Authors" under the supervision of  Dr. Jorge Figueroa Dorrego.
